Kaidan had faith.

He wasn't  a religious man, but he had faith. He looked down at the legend of a man in the hospital bed, every inch of his body wrapped in bandage tape and covered in Medi-gel. Underneath the skin, every nerve and tissue was on the road to recovery.

Its been three months since the entire galaxy had been saved once again by Commander Shepard. And, hopefully for the last time. Kaidan knew, regardless of what the reports said, that his lover was alive. Even after he had placed John's name on the monument on the Normandy, he still believed.

Only minutes after that, a message came through the overhead speakers. A message that made the major truly break into tears. Tears of joy.

Commander Shepard has been found. And he was alive.

He didn't look it, however. Kaidan charged godspeed to the medic team in charge of his transport to the Huerta Solvus Hospital, and the sight of the man he ever loved mortified him. The man barely had any skin on his body, and what was there was charred an ugly black. A huge gash was replaced to where his left eye was. His right arm wasn't there.

But Kaidan had faith.

He prayed to a God he never believed in, hoping he would be answered. Three months, the biotic never left Shepard's side. Through the operations, the transplants, everything. He was there.

Kaidan jumped slightly as he felt John's fingers fold into his. "J-John?"

"Ghmm."

"John.. Can you hear me, babe? God, please say something....."

Kaidan got just that.

"Ow."

Kaidan blinked, before he, for the first time in three months, broke into laughter.
