Songfic Challenge: Blue.

Kaidan spent hours on end searching for the man he loved through the piles of debris. He was a man possessed in his vigil, not taking no for an answer. He lost Rev once, he'd be damned if he lost him again. He refused to let Shepard's name stay on the memorial without finding him.

Hours had gone into his search and, by the grace of god, he found him. Rev barely had a pulse. His body was limp, almost skin on skin as he fought for breath. His body had charred spots, blood from head to toe. He held Shepard's hand as the medic team rushed him into the shuttle and as far as he was allowed before he was taken into I.C.U.

Doctors went in and out of the room, doing everything virtually possible to save the galaxy's hero. Kaidan sat in the hospital waiting room, planted in his seat, not leaving except to use the restroom. Liara found him and demanded him to rest. Kaidan was pale, and his eyes were bloodshot from tears and from refusing to sleep. It was when she found him that Dr. Michel walked in and told them the words they prayed they would hear.

Kaidan walked into the hospital room, seeing Shepard and was reminded of how Kaidan was hospitalized at Huerta Memorial Hospital. Pulling up a chair, the major took Rev's hand tenderly letting out a shaken sigh. His head shot up when Rev muttered, "No wonder you were itching to get out of here."

Kaidan was flooded with relief and happiness as he embraced Rev liked he never had before. "Kaidan..I'm sorry.." Rev said, tightening his hold on the other man. Kaidan sniffed an said, "It doesn't matter. You're alive. And that's all that's important."
