Songfic Challenge: Heaven.

Shepard stood silently in front of the memorial for, what seemed like forever. The rest of the Normandy's crew came and paid their respects to the man Rev considered a father. Shepard just stood staring at the plaque, reminiscing about the faith Anderson placed in him. His scolding and support. More than just a superior, but a friend. It was safe to say that to the commander, David was indeed the father he grew up without. He remembered the man's last words on the Citdadel, words that he still carries.

"You did good. I'm proud of you, son."

Rev just stood there silently, saying goodbye to Anderson for the truly last time. Shepard let out a sigh as he ran his fingers though his brown hair. He heard footsteps behind him, but didn't bother turning around. "Hey."

Kaidan walked beside him, looking at his commander with a sympathetic face. Rev shared a sad smile as the major wrapped an arm around Rev's waist. Neither men said anything, lost for words. It was Rev who then broke the uncomfortable silence, "You think heaven is real?"

Kaidan looked at him with the same soft look, understanding what he meant. That was a good question. Kaidan always wondered the same. In time, he came to understand that those who lived their lives had to look over those still living somehow. Anderson surely was doing just that. "I do. He's there." Kaidan said. Rev nodded as the two remained in front of the memorial in silence.

I fought for you the hardest
It made me the strongest
So tell me your secrets
I just can't stand to see you leaving
Heaven couldn't wait for you
So go home, go home

Lyrics of "Heaven" by Beyonce.
