Songic Challenge: Pretty Hurts.
Shepard jolted upright in his bed. His body running with cold sweat and his breath shaking.
He briskly made his way to the batbathroom, running a hand through his auburn hair. The pits of his stomach growled like a varren ready to fight in a varren match on Tuchanka. His knees weak, he bent over and vomitted into the toilet, his face twisting as he was left with the taste in his mouth.
He carefully got back up and reached for the sink, gripping the nozzles. Cold water splashed across his face as he tried to wash the residue off. Looking at his reflection almost made him want to puke again. His eyes were bloodshot and bags were developing under them. The faint scars from his facial construction were beginning to show again, for the third time now.
It was then that Kaidan walked in and with one look was appalled with what he saw. The commander practically looked like a reaper husk. The stress. "Fuck... Rev.." Kaidan said broken. How exactly hasn't he noticed Rev like this? I mean how?
"I'm fine.." Shepard stated, suddenly leaning over the toilet to throw up again. "EDI, can you give me his temperature!?" Kaidan called out to the ship's AI. "The commander is running a fever at exactly 102.3. It is accumulated due to insomnia, excessive-"
"I'm fine."
Kaidan began rubbing circles on the man's back as Rev finished. The two took a shower, well Kaidan made Rev take one with him. Cleaning him from head to toe. Finishing Shepard felt the cold sensation of an ice pack on his head. Kaidan crouched next to him saying reassuring words, ones that helped the commander more than he could explain.
Pretty hurts, we shoot the light on whatever's worst
Perfection is a disease of a nation
Pretty hurts, we shoot the light on whatever's worst
You're trying to fix something, but you can't fix what you can't see
Its the soul that needs surgery
Ain't got no doctor or pill to take the pain away
The pain's inside and nobody frees you from your body
Its the soul that needs surgery
Plastic smiles and denial only take you so far
Then you break when the fake facade leaves you in the dark
You're left with shattered mirrors and the shards of a beautiful past
